Stewards

| Each steward has several responsibilities, which are described in the local's constitution. The traditional role of the steward is to enforce collective bargaining agreements and protect the workplace rights of members through the filing of grievances. A more detailed listing of the responsibilities of our local stewards is shown below (obtained from the AFSCME Local 2025 A & B Constitution):

| The Duties of a Steward: |
The stewards shall:
- Enforce the Contract;
- File Grievances in their Jurisdiction;
- Represent Members (if requested) at Meetings;
- Receive and Report Potential Problems on or at the Work Site;
- Sign up New Members;
- Inform Members about Union Programs and Activities; and
- Assist Members Whenever Possible.

| The Duties of a Chief Steward: |
The Chief Steward shall abide by or do all the things a steward does plus the following:
- Keep a record of all grievances from all jurisdictions; and
- Represent all jurisdictions.
